Deluxe Stratocaster

The Gibson SG is one of the most coveted guitars in history. Many musicians in recent years have fallen in love with the Secretary General and have remained faithful to Gibson. Here are some of the history of the SG for you to enjoy.

Around 1960, the Gibson guitar manufacturers through suffering of falling sales. Not that the Les Paul was not selling as it was very good. The problem was that the music developed and musicians looking for a sound, or tone, unlike what has the Les Paul.

Thus, in 1961, Gibson radically changed body shape so it was now thinner, lighter and now appears double cutaway neck area that allows greater access to higher frets. The neck was made in a heavier construction and the neck joint was raised about three higher frets. This was done in the hope of competing with the model of Fender Stratocaster, which became popular then.

The new design was marketed with the "fastest neck in the world" and this was largely a fact. The neck had a slimmer profile (side) and as joint neck, the heel is no longer an obstacle, as is the case of the Les Paul.

Another name that was requested because the guitar did not look like a Les Paul. Since the was his namesake guitar inventor Les Paul (the inventor of the electric guitar and the Les Paul design) asked that his name be withdrawn completely redesigned.

So the good folks at Gibson called brainstorming and a new model of "SG". Guitar Ironically, this was simply short for "solid".

The Gibson factory there were a lot of plastic "Les Paul" identification tags in stock. So even though Les Paul's was removed in 1961, Gibson SG continued to manufacture the plate between the truck and the highest fret board until the end of 1963. Finding one of these principles with a Les Paul SG nameplate would be really a collector's item is valuable.

Since the OS was introduced in early 1961, the Numerous changes have been made to bear the name of SG. There was a standard model (SG Standard), and a junior model (SG Junior). Then the top of the line Gibson SG Custom made of the scene. Interestingly, the Custom SG 1961-63 manufactured say "SG" in them, however, had a signature plate under the dash Les Paul fret, like all Les Paul's.

From 1961 to early '63, The soul cover of the standard OS was engraved with "Les Paul". The Secretary General submitted a small pick guard in the models between 1961 and 1965. Then in 1966, another slight redesign took place. Now the GS had a different kind and a set-neck batwing Pick guard appeared in the 1967 model upwards.

The design was strong until about 1970 or so. The year 1971 saw the launch of a new version of the GS with a floating pick guard reminiscent of the Les Paul. Also the control board was mounted from the front to reduce construction costs.

A variety of quality molars are offered as options too. Most notable were the "Master", the "lever Lira "and the vibrato Bigsby tremolo arm. Some new designs put into play with the design of new tailpiece. Some of these were the SG 100 (low-end version that was more affordable) and GS 200 (with two single coil pickups). At the upper end of the spectrum were the SG Pro SG and GS luxury models.

Gibson returned the original design of the GS in 1973. The pick guard was to protect small retro original selection and controls were moved to the back of the neck again and noticed more in the body with a rallying point around the fret XX. But late in that decade, all GS models turned on all the previous design. Current models are now made with construction 1967-1969, the largest LP style selection Boxing guard the tablets in the SG body. Changes are still available with the small pick guard. Return to the SG issues are common and popular.

These guitars are like his brothers in 1960 unless a is now standard stop tailpiece. Models of the GS with a vibrato tailpiece are now a custom item or a special edition model.

The SG in the first place that the factory active pills were introduced in 1980. Gibson SG tested a model with the same Moog electronic assets that are used (or has used) in an earlier model called the Artist DR. This experimental SG body looked thicker because of the added circuits strangers. This model was affectionately nicknamed the "Gibson SG-R1.

The SG-R1 was solid mahogany wood with a glossy black finish. He had no guard selection, the worry scale "points" opposed the and outstanding original trapezoidal transparent barrel knobs for treble and bass -5 ranging from "0" to "5" or "" instead of "1" to "10". There was also an additional switch to activate a "boost" to the bridge pickup.

The SG-R1 had a fixed bridge with a tremolo / Standard whammy bar. Gibson behalf of the SG-R1 "SG Artist" circa 1981 and later was suspended. Of the SG, there were only about 200 ever made.

Today, the Gibson SG guitar is still as popular as ever, and is used by some of the best guitarists ever strap on an ax. Some of the loyal users Gibson is Angus Young (AC / DC), Hank Williams Jr., Jeff Tweedy (Wilco), Marilyn Manson, Nic Cester (Jet), Pete Townshend (The Who), Shakira, Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath).

Leo Fender produced his first Fender Stratocaster guitar in California in 1954. It featured a striking two-tone sunburst finish, with its ash wood grain body, selected for its appearance as well as tonal and lasting qualities, and a neck made of one piece of solid maple, together with the drop-in assembly of the electronics. From 1950s rock 'n' roll through to 1970s punk and 1990s funk, it has played a constant and vital role in the development of music through the latter part of the 20th century and into the 21st. This book traces the history of the Stratocaster and the way in which it developed in countries such as Japan and the UK, as well as its native U.S. Topics covered include Stratocasters from the 1950s to the present, the influence of Jimi Hendrix, modern alternatives to vintage Stratocasters, notable recordings, and common alterations.
